WHAT IS CONCEPT I ?

Architecture is an outcome. Outcome of all the capacity and essence developed within a community, from culture to technology, from humanity to autocracy. It is an consequence or you can call it the reaction force of our nature. From the beginning when human being came out from the cave, architecture is all the work you can think of to deal with that situation. A man came out from the cave. He wanted to lived outside the cave. When he settle down on a piece of land, architecture has to come in to provide shelter. Then there must be a special man who can place that special thing on that ground as the habitat for him. God gives the resposibility, priority and room for that special person to suck up the senses of that place and build a special shelter that can not belong to any other place. There is alway only one shelter that can be fitted on that ground. No one else in this world can understand the ground better than that special man. No one in this world can discover that special shelter, how it look, how is is built and how special it is. That is why I have always ask myself why must architecture be produced from the selection of many ideas and concepts. Louis Kahn once said that he did not have any concept on his building. All he knew was his responsibility to build that special one which was destined. His building is what SHOULD and what EXACTLY needed by that piece of land. No fussy concepts, no imitation, no glamour. It is what it should be.
If you have different concepts or different options to be place on that perticular ground, that means you do not understand correctly and thoroughly that context. Different material you use have different physical and psychological impact or influence on surrounding. Different facade will mould varying mentality on the community but the initial goal of your design has only be one. Winston Churchill said: human shape architecture and in return architecture shape us.
Concept always for me is a kind of whitewash to our inability to understand. We want to hide something from our building that is - the irrational design with the respond the context. A concept for me is packaging and branding that is usual in the commercial sense. High quality content does not need that. The essence and richness of that special thing are already the best image it can have to the mass. Building with no cencept but have clear respond to its context is different. Every single space, every piece of material, every architectural element, you can feel that they are communicating in silence with the surrounding context including human. They are intrusive, touching our senses, no stupid thing about deconstruction, biblo, neo-, zahahadid effect, or any other kind of immitation. AN ARCHITECTURE WITH A CONCEPT IS AN ARCHITECTURE THAT WILL NOT LAST LONG. THERE ARE BILLIONS OR TRILLIONS OF CONCEPT THAT CAN BE DERIVED BY HUMAN. NEW CONCEPT ALWAYS BORN PROBABLY POSSIBLE IN ANY SECOND BECAUSE CONCEPT IS SOMETHING BORROWED FROM OTHER. BUT SHEER ARCHITECTURE THAT HAS NO CONCEPT BUT BORN ITSELF AS IT SHOULD BE WILL REMAIN EXCELLENT AND INFLUENTIAL FOREVER.
